Donations and The Like

Some of you like to donate.  I do, but I try to think before I open my wallet or my time.  I caught this post on a fellow Patriot's new blog a week or so ago and have been meaning to link to it.  If you missed it, I highly suggest you read it if you like to donate.  No sense in supporting those that obviously don't support us.

I walk past countless bell ringers during the holiday season. And when you don't put a few dollar or some change in their cup, they glare at you. That annoys the hell out of me. I don't drop coins in their cup, not because I'm cheap, but because I don't believe in their organization, and I don't have the time to explain that to every idiot minimum wage bell ringer from now until Christmas.

I don't ever donate to places like the Salvation Army anymore. They aren't as pious as most folks seem to think they are. So not donating to them is a personal choice. I put my donations elsewhere.

I like to help people locally that I know need help. We all have neighbors that need a hand up from time to time. I'd rather help those folks than nameless faceless people thousands of miles away.

I also don't donate to food banks, churches, or anything else that reports people who pick up their food to the 'state', because that's their 'policy'.

I'll get some canned goods or whatever, bag them in a paper bag, and leave them on the front doorstep of people who need it in the early AM. Then, they won't say no, and they have no idea who did it. Just that one of their neighbors is looking out for them.

It's amazing how many people will accept food stamps, but won't take a can of green beans from their neighbors. I wonder if they realize how warped that is. They'll take charity at gunpoint when they force their neighbors to pay it via the philanthropy tax we are all charged, but won't take charity half the time when freely given because they are 'too proud'. Man are folks in this country disconnected from reality.

So, I do my donations privately.

But hey, that's just me. Rock on with whatever works for anyone else. :)

P.S. I'd leave comments on your blog more often if your authenticator didn't suck chicken McNuggets bro. ;) (I can never read these damn things!) :P

Authenticator? As in the captcha? Do I have one? I thought it just went to moderation email to me to which I publish from there.
